Ministers pay visit to Lancing for Lib-Dem party meeting

GOVERNMENT ministers Vince Cable and Danny Alexander were among several Liberal Democrat high-flyers who attended the party’s regional conference in Lancing Parish Hall on Saturday.

More than 200 people turned up to the members-only event to see the ministers speak on a range of political topics.

Mr Alexander, chief secretary to the treasury, spoke about the importance of the upcoming European Parliament elections and praised the work of South East England representative Sharon Bowles, who will be standing down this year.

Speaking to the Herald, Mr Alexander said: “I have worked very closely with Sharon and she has a been a hugely powerful and effective figure for Britain.

“She has played a huge role in a lot of what we have been trying to do to sort the EU out after the financial crisis.”
