A MAN who has gone missing in Petersfield may have been on his way to Worthing Hospital.
Hampshire police are appealing for help after 76-year-old George Elborough went missing from his home in Petersfield yesterday.
Police search teams and dog units are looking for Mr Elborough, known as Pat, who is disabled. Although he uses an electrically-powered wheelchair, it has power to travel within only an eight-mile radius.
Pat’s wife has a relative in hospital in Worthing, who he had expressed a wish to go and see, and police are on the lookout for him along this route.
She said she went out at 10.15am on Saturday, leaving him at home, and when she returned at around 2.30pm, he was gone.
Pat was last seen wearing brown cord trousers, a white striped shirt and a tan jumper. It is thought that he might have with him a red Regatta waterproof jacket.
A spokeswoman for the police said: “It was a cold night, and we are really worried about him. We want to get him safely home as soon as possible.
“We have lots of police officers out looking for him, including search teams and dog units. Pat is wheelchair-bound, and finds it difficult to communicate clearly verbally.
“Please call us if you think you have seen him by dialling 101 straight away.”
