AN EXTENSION to a Worthing care home was officially opened last week.
Building work to the downstairs of the Shakespeare Road home, which also included new toilets and a hairdressers, was completed last month.
Mrs Brookes said: “This was first talked discussed about three years ago and it was very difficult to get planning permission because we are in a conservation area.
“But it is just lovely and has meant that we can have a bigger seating area for the residents which is a lot better.
“We are very pleased with the way it has turned out and we have also put in new carpets and furniture to complete the new look.”
Carer Claire Bushby has worked at the home for nine years. She said: “This has made an enormous difference in terms of space and everybody loves it. The home now is a completely different place, it is wonderful.”
Mayor Bob Smytherman, Mayoress Norah Fisher and her dog Herbie were on hand to cut the ribbon. Cllr Smytherman said: “I am delighted to declare this wonderful new space open.”
