At 1pm on Tuesday February 16, walking down the Cuckmere river into driving rain, I was astonished to witness a wall of water proceeding up river at a good pace and creating quite a wash on the banks.

It was, of course a bore and not a particularly large one, being no more than a foot high.

But I had never before witnessed this phenomenon, on any river, and felt very privileged to see this one.
