Outcry over nurses being issued with parking fines in Worthing

A UNION has accused Worthing Borough Council of being too heavy handed when issuing parking tickets to nurses in Worthing.

Numerous nurses have been handed parking tickets after the council accused them of misusing their permits.

People living near NHS buildings in the town complained that nurses were taking up residents’ parking spaces.

Nurses who make home visits are issued with permits which allow them free parking in restricted areas for up to two hours, but not on yellow lines.

Worthing Borough Council said staff from Sussex Community NHS Trust were taking up residents’ parking spaces.
