A number of people in Ferring are unable to make or receive calls from their landline as a result of water damage.
The loss of service, which has been affecting people today (Wednesday, January 9), has been caused by water damaging an underground cable in Sea Lane, Ferring.
BT said around 120 customers had reported faults to the phone company.
The news comes after Ferring residents also experienced problems with their BT phone service last year.
A spokesman for BT said: “This has been a complex and labour-intensive fault to repair. “We have had to renew a large amount of cabling and protective ducting and work under the safety of temporary traffic lights.
“We have started to restore service to customers and are hopeful that all customers’ service will be restored by the end of the week.”
