Picket lines in West Sussex due to strike action

A NATIONAL day of industrial action will affect parts of the county tomorrow (Wednesday, November 30).

A number of public sector trade unions will be protesting against the changes the government is proposing for public sector pension schemes.

A number of West Sussex County Council employees will be participating in the industrial action.

If you are attending a public meeting or training course you should assume that this is going ahead, unless you have been notified otherwise.

Picket lines

The trade unions are planning to hold picket lines at the following locations:

Centenary House, Durrington

Cissbury Lodge, Worthing

County Hall, Chichester

County Hall North, Horsham

Durban House, Bognor Regis

Glebelands, Shoreham

Visitors to these locations may have to cross a picket line.

GMB members will be picketing at the St Paul’s Centre in Chapel Road, Worthing, from 10am, and then leading a march from there at noon.

County council service disruption

Service users and callers will experience disruption due to industrial action. The county council said the service will respond to urgent and high priority calls, and all child protection calls will be responded to as usual.

There will only be minimum cover available in the Child Disability Team North on Wednesday. Please leave all non-urgent calls until Thursday if possible, when normal service levels will resume.
