PICTURE GALLERY: Sun shines on Worthing fruit flingathon

AS the spring sun shone, hundreds of people from across the area flocked to the beach for Worthing’s annual fruit flingathon.

Founded by Worthing journalist Paul Holden, the event was held to raise funds for wheelchair tennis ace Lauren Jones.

People took to the beach to hurl oranges and lemons donated by Waitrose, in memory of the 1901 SS Indiana fruit wreck.

The citrus sling is usually held in chilly temperatures, but this year, glorious spring sunshine blessed the event.
