Worthing still managed to “count down to Christmas” last weekend despite the wet weather disrupting plans.
Various events were scheduled in the town centre last Saturday, including a firework display on the pier, however they had to be moved the the following day due to the rain.
Fortunately, the Town Centre Initiative, who organised the event, managed to spread the message and hundreds of people turned out the next day.
Sharon Clarke, town centre manager, said the event could have been better had the weather held off but she was pleased with the turnout in the circumstances.
She explained: “Thanks to the power of social media, we managed to get the word out.
“A lot of similar events around the county had to be cancelled at the weekend so we did well to reschedule.
“The only things we lost were the panto stars and a lovely soul choir.”
Activities that went ahead included reindeer in South Street, music, a visit from Santa and the firework display.
The Christmas lights were also switched on on Friday.
