Police seek information about East Worthing Post Office robbery

POLICE are investigating an armed robbery at a Post Office in Worthing.

At around 8.40am yesterday, March 25, police were called to the Post Office, in Lyndhurst Road, East Worthing, after a man entered the store and threatened staff with a knife.

The staff handed over a quantity of cash, and the man left the Post Office walking off in an easterly direction to St George’s Road.

He then jumped over a wall into the gardens of Wakehurst Court and disappeared from sight.

No-one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as white, of “chunky” build, approximately 6ft, wearing dark blue jeans, a black jacket, scarf over his face and a hat.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Officers were quickly on the scene to search the area and support the victims, however were unable to trace a suspect.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and who may have seen the suspect leaving the Post Office and jumping over the wall.”
