Police release CCTV of Durrington Co-op burglars
POLICE have released a CCTV image after men burgled a Co-op store in Durrington.
At 4.55am on Sunday, December 4 five men in a black Honda Civic type R drove on to the petrol station forecourt at the Co-op in The Boulevard.
They forced open the doors to the store and two men went inside, forcing open the cigarette machine shutters and stealing cigarettes valued at more than £5,000. The men then left in the car, driving north up The Boulevard.
Detective Constable Beccy Hopkins said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in Worthing in the early hours of Sunday and who saw this car or the five men.
“There are two witnesses we would like to trace in particular. They had got off a night bus near the Co-op just before the break-in. They were outside the Co-op when the two young men drove onto the forecourt and when the break-in started they both ran away, and got into a vehicle, possibly a taxi, nearby. I stress that they are not believed to be involved in the incident but could be valuable witnesses.
“If you were one of them, or if you have any other information, please contact us via 101 quoting serial 0342 of 4 December. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.”
