PLANS for the regeneration of Lancing are being discussed – this is the message from councillors and officers.
Residents are being assured the village is not being left behind its neighbours and, although no consultation has taken place with traders yet, this will happen in the next couple of months.
The announcement follows the Herald’s article last week (Thursday, November 17), where it was revealed traders had launched a petition begging for work to be done to stop Lancing’s “chronic decline”.
Colin Hunt, clerk for Lancing Parish Council, said of the plans: “This is not a knee-jerk thing. It has been rumbling in the background.
“It was not in the public realm because we did not want to raise expectations.”
The regeneration plans for Lancing are currently being discussed by Adur and Worthing councils and Lancing Parish Council.
The area being looked at will stretch from Beach Green to Crabtree Lane.
