FORMER Worthing mayor James Doyle has joined Worthing branch of the Green Party, and will fight to retain his county council seat under that banner.

Mr Doyle, 47, a West Sussex County Council member for Worthing Pier division since 2009, was until recently an independent Lib Dem member of Worthing Borough Council for Selden ward, before he stood down.

He was also a Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for East Worthing and Shoreham in the General Elections of 2005 and 2010, as well as mayor of Worthing in 2003-4.
