A SUPER slimmer from Worthing was congratulated on her weight loss by Westlife singer Brian McFadden.

After reaching the semi-finals of a national slimming competition, Anne Baker, 43, was ‘delighted’ to have her achievement praised as ‘nothing short of incredible’.

The singer said: “By making changes to her eating habits and getting active she’s obviously completely changed her life – and she looks great on it.”

Since joining the Broadwater Slimming World group in June, 2012, Anne lost more than six stone, inspiring other members of the group to vote for her as a representative in the annual ‘Slimming World Woman of the Year 2013 competition’.

After winning the regional heat, Anne became one of 58 women across the UK and Ireland to reach the national semi-finals with a chance of winning the overall title.

She said the key to her success was the continued support of her slimming world group: “If ever my motivation did start to fade, my consultant and the rest of the group were there to remind me how far I’d come.

“Thanks to them and my weight loss I’m slimmer but my smile is so much bigger.”

Unfortunately, Anne did not make the final of the competition but Jacqui Lee-Smith, who runs the Broadwater group, said she is still very proud.

“Anne doesn’t only look great on the outside; she’s a new woman on the inside too.

“Nowadays, she’s unrecognisable from the woman who walked into the group all those months ago.

“She’s happier, healthier and more confident, and her success is contagious as she’s inspired so many other people in the group.”

Broadwater Slimming Group meets every Monday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Broadwater Parish Room.
