Bryan Turner, Worthing Borough Council cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We really have to develop the land we have got. It’s quite a substantial piece of land.”

A survey recently carried out on the land revealed there was no ‘significant’ contamination , particularly within the top three metres of the land.

Paul Yallop, leader of Worthing Borough Council, said that he was ‘content’ to see the findings of the contamination survey had not come back with ‘anything too detrimental’.
