Queen's Award presented to Ferring Conservation Group at awards ceremony

A Ferring based conservation group has been recognised with a prestigious award.

Ferring Conservation Group has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2016. This award, which recognises excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community, was created by the Queen in 2002 to mark the occasion of Her Golden Jubilee. The group received its award at the presentation ceremony for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which took place on October 11 at 12noon in Ferring. The award was given to Ferring Conservation Group by Mrs Susan Pyper, the Lord Lieutenant, who is the Queen’s representative in the County.

Ferring Conservation Group representatives David Bettiss (chairman), Ed Miller (vice-chairman and planning), Debbie Dilks (secretary), Gloria Moffatt (treasurer), Tricia Hall (wildlife), Jane Hayman (publicity), Michael Brown (membership) and committee members Lindsey Green and Chris Green attended the event, in addition to 45 group members.

Other dignitaries attending the event included deputy lieutenant John Lippiatt, the chairman and CEO of WSCC and Arun DC. the high Sheriff of West Sussex plus guest politicians, local councillor, Carole Robertson and Nadine Phibbs from Ferring Parish Council, Julie Toben from WADARS, Malcolm Linfield and one client from Ferring Country Centre, Evert Baker, a local business representative, Revd Gary Ingram, Margaret and David Metcalf from St Andrew’s Church and Lillian Holdsworth from Ferring Retirement Club.
