SOMPTING Parish Council has re-launched its quarterly magazine in an effort to keep residents informed of what is happening in the village.
Chairman of Sompting Parish Council Barry Mear hopes it will help villagers to understand what the parish council actually does.
“We have been keeping in touch with people using leaflets but as we have taken on more and more, we thought it might be better to do it this way,” he said.
Readers will find information about community groups, upcoming events, the parish council’s budget, community awards, the neighbourhood plan and more.
“A lot of people still think we basically cut the grass, but this will let people know what we actually do in the village,” said Cllr Mear.
“Now I think they will realise that we are doing quite a bit in the village.”
The four-page magazine is being printed locally and is designed and produced by an editorial board of council members.
It is being delivered to each of Sompting’s 3,800 houses by the councillors, and Mr Mear said so far the response had been good.
“I have had a couple of calls already,” he said.
“A lot of the time people get stuff through the door and it just goes straight in the bin, so it’s nice to know people are actually reading it.”
