HUNDREDS of water-sports enthusiasts arrived in Lancing on Sunday having set a world record for the largest number of kite-surfers to compete a one-mile course.

The record-breaking crew, which included Sir Richard Branson, raised money for three different charities, Virgin Unite, Snow-Camp and The RNLI.

Despite gale-force conditions with winds reaching 50 miles-an-hour, 72 surfers completed the 50-mile course from Hayling Island to Lancing.
