Residents living on contaminated land speak of ongoing frustration

NEARLY two years after learning their homes had been built on contaminated land, residents say they feel trapped in properties they cannot sell.

Back in 2010, the Herald reported on residents in Lennox Mews, just off Chapel Road, learning their homes – which are part-owned and part-managed by Worthing Homes – had been built on contaminated land after a resident had attempted to sell their property.

Now, nearly two years later, many residents still feel unable to use their gardens because they do not know if it is safe.

Between them, they have spent thousands on paying for a civil engineer and an estate agent to complete reports on their homes and the land they are built on.

They have spoken about their ongoing frustration with the situation.
