Roffey outlines latest seafront housing project

The firm, alongside architects ECE, outlined early-stage plans for the West Parade site, on the corner of Grand Avenue, at a public exhibition at The Beach Residences marketing suite on Tuesday.

Conceptual designs showed plans to replace the current derelict housing block with a new building, comprising 32 apartments and seven affordable flats.

ECE director Chris Barker said: “At the moment, the current building is an eyesore and has been for a number of years.

“We are looking at 12 storeys which is not huge but will be a bit higher than what is neighbouring it.

“It is early stages and we are inviting feedback from the public before we submit a planning application.”

The block would be set back from the road, in line with the existing buildings.

It will incorporate a ‘stepped back’ approach, meaning the block will vary in height, to take into account surrounding buildings, and not have an adverse effect on lighting conditions.
