Salvington fete raises thousands

MORE than 500 people attended High Salvington Windmill’s annual fete last weekend.

The event raised more than £3,000 towards the upkeep and maintenance of the mill, in Furze Road, Worthing.

There was entertainment for all ages, with a raffle, crockery smashing, morris dancing, children’s games and more.

Becky Maclaran, of the High Salvington Mill Trust, said: “It went really well. It was just a lovely day.

“Every penny goes to the mill. To keep it running takes quite a bit of money.

“We have the locals who come every time but there’s always somebody new. People like to buy flour that has been ground by the mill.”

She wanted to thank everyone who visited, as well as all the volunteers, who were ‘fantastic’ on the day.

Becky said that the trust was on the lookout for more young people to volunteer.

The next event to be held at the mill will be a classic car and motorbike exhibit on August 3.
