Sat nav confusion led to woman’s death in head-on A27 collision

A YOUNG woman died in a head-on collision after getting confused by her sat nav and driving the wrong way down the A27, an inquest heard.

The coroner at yesterday’s inquest (Thursday, May 17) heard Lauren Smee was driving from her home in Chichester to a friend’s house in Worthing, when she accidentally turned onto the wrong side of the busy dual carriageway.

It happened on December 11, last year, on the Castle Goring stretch of the road. Coroner Penelope Schofield concluded the 21-year-old, of Spitalfield Lane, Chichester, died an accidental death.
