Club chairman David Clubb said: “This should be a marvellous event. My aim is to give local runners, including novices, an opportunity to take part in this race.

“Local runners are an increasingly frequent feature of the Adur riverbank and the Shoreham locality. It is not targeted at elite runners, although some may take part.”

Entries have come in from as far as London, and people can sign up on the day, subject to an upper limit of 400 runners.

Adur Outdoor Activity Centre is the race headquarters but the start will be on the east bank of the River Adur, about 300 metres north of Norfolk Bridge.

The race route will follow the Downs Link to St Botolphs Bridge, across the footbridge to the west bank then down to the Old Toll Bridge and back over to the east bank, finishing just north of the Red Lion pub.
