The 26-strong group, which ranges in age from eight to 11 year old, won through two heats of the Red Cross Dance Competition and will compete against four other schools in the final.

Choreographer and teacher Georgia Roberts said: “The criteria for the dance was to base it on something that the Red Cross does, so we decided that our theme would be how the charity helped the tsunami victims.

“We use some props but the waves are always represented by the children and we chose different songs to represent each section.

“The children have spent hours practising and are so excited about performing at the 02. Our school will be up against some dance schools rather than mainstream schools so it will be hard, but fingers crossed we will do well.”

The school has to date raised £1,600 for the Red Cross through cake sales, nail painting and non-uniform days. On Friday, the school was visited by Stomp Dance Company, with pupils taking part in workshops.
