SCOOBY Doo kick-started a spring walk along Worthing seafront, raising £2,500 for a club for children with special needs.
More than 125 children and adults took part in the sponsored walk along Worthing seafront in aid of the Ashdown Club, one of Guild Care’s services.
The majority of the walkers were families that use the Ashdown Club, in Ashdown Road, for short breaks for children who have conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, ADHD, autism and other special needs.
The walk was started by Scooby Doo and restricted to two miles due to the varying degrees of the children’s conditions.
Charlotte Brackley, Ashdown manager, said all the young people who participated completed the walk with great enthusiasm and pride.
She added: “Many thanks to REAC’s marshals who helped with planning and escorting the walkers and their families and to everyone who sponsored the families, walked and raised much needed funds for Ashdown.”
