A SWAN has become the latest victim of a mysterious illness affecting wildlife at Brooklands lake.
Animal rescue workers were called out to the pleasure park at around 10am on Friday morning by a member of the public who saw the adult male swan in difficulty.
The bird was having trouble staying afloat and was struggling to get out of the water.
Lee Gander and Billy Elliott, animal rescue officers with WADARS, rushed to the bird’s aid, commandeering a small boat with an outboard motor to reach the stranded swan.
Once by its side, they carefully lifted it out of the water and brought it safely to the shore, before placing it in the animal ambulance.
