STUDENTS from Our Lady of Sion School provided some ‘excellent competition’ at their annual sports day.
It was held at the Worthing Leisure Centre track in Shaftesbury Avenue, Worthing, with all students from years seven to ten participating.
Jack Forrest, in year nine, broke two records – the 100 metres in 12 seconds and 200 metres in 25.12. Both had been held since 2008.
Ben Illsley, in year eight, took the triple jump record in 10.30. While Grace Harper, in year seven, broke the 1,500 metres record in a time of 6.15.
Best individual performances on the day went to Faye Murton in year nine, Ben Roberts in year ten and Jack Forrest in year nine. All three won four events, and had one second place in their five allowed events. The house event was won by Delta for the third year running.
Sion also celebrated National School Sport Week, when two awards were presented to Talisa Marsh and Jamie Cundy for effort and determination.
Hazel Jones, from the school, said: “The afternoon was a tremendous success and was enjoyed by the students, staff, parents and friends.”
