Street robbery in Worthing town centre

POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information following a robbery at the Teville Gate car park in Worthing.

At around 7.30pm on Monday, February 13, the 17-year-old victim was walking home from the railway station, through the underpass of Teville Gate car park when he was approached from behind by two men who threatened him and asked for his mobile phone.

They also tried to pull his rucksack from him. The victim shouted for help and the suspects ran off in the direction of Morrisons. The thieves stole a small amount of cash and some keys.

The two suspects are described as black, aged 17 to 18 years, and of average build. One of them was wearing light blue tracksuit bottoms and a dark blue hooded top and Nike Air Max trainers.

The other man was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a black jumper with grey sleeves. Both had scarves on covering the lower part of their faces.

Detective Constable Faye Satchwell-Bennett said; “We urge anyone who has any information or witnessed what happened to please get in touch. The victim has been left very shaken by what happened though he was not hurt. Although this is an isolated incident and not part of any series, we also naturally remind people, particularly those who use that cut through to get to the station, to remain vigilant when using it during the evenings.’.
