A GORING pre-school is celebrating after it made strong improvements in its most recent Ofsted report.
St Laurence Pre-School, in Sea Place, was classified as “good”, following Ofsted’s most recent inspection in January.
The report, written by inspector Alison Weaver, read: “Children are content, settled and make good progress towards the early learning goals. Effective arrangements help children stay safe and in good health. Overall, good links with parents help promote children’s welfare well, and keep them informed about the child’s progress.”
The school’s good classification follows a previous inspection by Ofsted in May, 2011, in which the school was judged “inadequate” – the lowest level Ofsted gives and two below “good”.
The school’s co-owners, Sandra Bird and Jennifer Meek, said they were “delighted” with the results of their recent inspection, in which the school was judged good in 16 out of 17 areas, with one satisfactory.
Mrs Bird said: “Our secret of success is due to the stability and experience of our staff, and our vast array of equipment, plus a large garden and the ideal location close to the beach.”
