THERE was good news for a Worthing pre-school when it passed its first Ofsted inspection with a strong report.

Laugh and Learn Montessori Nursery, based in Heene Community Centre, in Heene Road, which opened last year, was classified “good” in what was the school’s first report.

In 14 of the categories the school was deemed “good”, while it was judged “outstanding” in three categories.

The report read: “The promotion of children’s enjoyment and achievement is excellent.

“Children have the benefit of highly-organised and consistent planning, which successfully combines Montessori tasks with a well-presented range of play themes that fully engage children and support learning.

“Children are successfully helped to feel safe and secure. Staff take care when settling new children, and key staff engage effectively with children and parents to provide close support at these times.”

Emma Doick, who took over the pre-school in September, 2011, said: “We have been celebrating our recent Ofsted inspection, having been awarded three areas of outstanding and being commended for our well-organised setting.

“We pride ourselves in working closely with our parents and have a successful parent representative group to help move our practice forward and discuss any future plans.”
