A man has been fined by police after streaking across a cricket pitch.

The 28-year-old bared all during a T20 match between Sussex County Cricket Club and Kent County Cricket Club on Friday, July 3.

The naked man jumped from the stands onto the pitch and after avoiding the grasp of stewards, tumbled into the cricket stumps in front of unamused Sharks and Spitfire players.

A police spokesman said: “At 9.20pm on Friday, we were called to the county cricket ground where stewards had detained a man who had run naked across the ground.

“The 28-year-old man from Uckfield admitted responsibility and police issued the man with a fixed penalty notice for £90 at the ground, for the offence of disorderly behaviour likely to cause alarm or distress, contrary to Section 5 of the Public Order Act.”
