DOZENS of drama fans gathered in the upstairs room of a Worthing café to hear what a local theatre company had in store for 2014.
Friends of the Rainbow Shakespeare company sipped cups of coffee at Café 33 in Warwick Street as director Nicolas Young announced the company would perform two plays this year, Julius Caesar and As You Like It.
“We have an incredibly loyal following,” said Mr Young, former artistic director at Worthing’s Connaught Theatre.
“The fact that we have people of all ages mixing together and having the opportunity to enjoy Shakespeare plays and enjoy a bottle of wine and a picnic and find that Shakespeare can be fun and enjoyable is great.”
The small audience was treated to a live demo of a few lines from each play, performed by cast members Josh Crisp (Mark Anthony) Susanna Gordon (Rosalind) and Pamela Sian Evans (Celia).
The group will perform Julius Caesar from July 15 to 20 at Highdown Gardens in Littlehampton Road, Worthing, followed by As You Like It from July 22 to 27 at the same venue.
