BREAKING NEWS: Worthing High School head teacher resigns

WORTHING High School has today (Thursday, September 20) announced it has accepted the resignation of Alison Beer, head teacher.

The school said Mrs Beer decided to resign after a period of ill health and has decided to step down from her post at the end of September

Tony Cohen, chairman of the governing body, said “We are obviously very disappointed to hear that Mrs Beer has decided to leave Worthing High School.

“We have valued her commitment to the school over the last 10 years. The governing body of Worthing High School remains focused on our conversion to an academy later this term. To ensure continuity of the excellent standards and ethos within the school we are delighted to announce that Carolyn Dickinson, our current deputy head has agreed to act as head teacher until the end of July 2013.”

Carolyn Dickinson said: “I am looking forward to supporting the governing body, with the rest of the leadership team, in the academy conversion process. The school has strong core beliefs of honesty, respect, responsibility, commitment and kindness with an outstanding family feel which our parents and students value.

“The whole leadership team is committed to continue our improvement journey to ensure that all students achieve the very best at Worthing High. I am looking forward to meeting with new parents at our open evening on Thursday, September 20, which starts at 6pm and with existing parents at the many events we have planned this term including student review evenings, careers events and our annual Christmas concert.”

A letter about Mrs Beer’s resignation has been sent to all parents this morning.
