CONCERNED residents are signing a petition to save the ‘green gap’ between Lancing and Shoreham, which is under threat from plans to build as many as 1,200 new houses.
The building proposals feature in the latest version of the Adur Draft Local Plan which is currently up for consultation ahead of the final plan, to be submitted next August.
The ‘Keep the Gap on the Map’ petition, launched by Adur Liberal Democrats, asks Adur District Council to abandon its plan to build on the flood plain.
Jemima Bland, Liberal parliamentary candidate for Worthing East and Shoreham, said: “It is madness to contemplate this amount of new development in a fragile environment which is prone to flooding.”
