SOUTHERN Water staff got their hands dirty to help Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
The water company, based in Yeoman Road, Worthing, has a corporate community volunteering scheme where employees can spend two days a year working with a chosen charity or community organisation.
Last month, nine members of staff gave their time to help the children’s hospice, near Angmering.
The hospice has only two members of staff to look after the house and expansive grounds, located within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Southern Water’s asset management transition team and asset life-cycle programme team, led by Richard Sands, spent the day helping out with general maintenance, painting and gardening.
Nikki Loader, senior communications officer for asset management, said: “It really is a privilege to be able to help those who are less fortunate than us. The children are so positive about everything they do and the staff have created the perfect environment for them and their families.”
Sarah Arnold, corporate fund-raising manager at the hospice, said: “We are extremely grateful for all the support Southern Water has given Chestnut Tree House.
“It was great to have such a fun team in to help and I am glad they liked the home-made cake.”
