A27 at Worthing to close for up to five nights

ROAD maintenance works are scheduled to close part of the A27 at Worthing for a maximum of five nights at the end of this month (August).

Both carriageways on Crockhurst Hill, between Offington Corner and a point 55 yards south of the junction with Mill Lane, will be closed overnight between 7.30pm and 5am, starting on or from Tuesday, August 30.

The Highways Agency order will also mean the overnight closure of the A27 junction with Half Moon Lane during this period.

There will be restricted access (i.e., for residents) to and from properties in the affected area during the closure periods.

West-bound traffic affected will be diverted north on the A24 (Findon Road) and west and south on the A280 Long Furlong road, to join the A27 (Arundel Road) at the Clapham interchange.

East-bound traffic will use the same diversion route in the reverse direction.

Further road works will also affect drivers on the A27 further west, scheduled for approximately five nights to start on or after Monday, September 12, between 7.30pm and 5am.

There will be a temporary, overnight mandatory 40mph speed restriction on the east-bound carriageway between the overbridge at Clapham interchange and a point 90 yards east of the Coach and Horses pub cross-over.

The west-bound carriageway will be closed overnight for about 100 yards east of Windrush Close and 45 yards west of Holt Lane, east of the Clapham interchange.

Overnight right turns on to the east-bound carriageway of the A27 will be suspended from the Coach and Horses and from Castle Goring Mews, and from other local premises, during the road works.
