Police van and cyclist in collision

A pedal cyclist sustained serious injuries after he and a police van on an emergency call were in collision in Worthing on Wednesday (September 28), police have confirmed.

Police have said the collision occurred at the junction of the A2032 Poulter’s Lane and Offington Drive in Worthing.

The incident occurred at 5.54pm when the police vehicle, a Ford Transit, was westbound on blue lights and the cyclist was travelling south via Offington Drive, say police.

Police confirmed that a local boy, aged 14, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he has been detained for treatment to head and abdominal injuries which were not thought to be life-threatening. No one else was hurt.
