An overturned car caused major delays.
The incident occured on the A27 westbound between Upper Shoreham Road and Steyning Road in Shoreham.
As a result, the Shoreham By-Pass was blocked and there was queuing traffic westbound between Southwick junction and the Steyning turn off.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the scene at just before 4.30pm and sent one fire engine from Shoreham Fire Station.
No-one was trapped, and only one car was involved, the fire service said. The crew made sure the scene was safe and left at just after 5pm.
The driver, a man, was checked over by an ambulance crew and the incident was left with Sussex Police, the fire service said.
A statement from Sussex Police said: “At about 4.26pm on Tuesday (11 October), police received a report of an overturned car on the Shoreham flyover.
“A recovery vehicle arrived at the scene at 5.10pm and the incident is ongoing.
“No injuries have been reported.”
The road is now clear.
