Travellers set up camp on Nepcote Green

TRAVELLERS have entered Nepcote Green, in Findon.

Police were informed that a group of 11 vehicles had entered the green at 2.45pm. Officers are at the site liaising with Findon Parish Council and assessing the situation.

Judith Davies, chairman of Findon Village Hall, was at the green earlier this afternoon.

She said: “They have blocked the road and the police are there in force. It’s so disappointing because of the money that’s been spent and the efforts of all the villagers to prevent this from happening. All the time thousands are spent clearing up after the travellers it’s money the village doesn’t have to spend on stuff that needs doing.”

A site assessment will be completed today by the police.

A spokesman from Findon Parish Council said: “Please be assured that Sussex Police will continue to monitor and review the situation on a daily basis and deal positively with incidents.

Residents should continue to report incidents to the police using the 101 telephone number with as much detail as possible. The reference to quote is 861 of 24 June 2014, so that all related incidents are collated.”
