UPDATE: Driver arrested after car collides with boy

The driver of the car that collided with a 16-year-old boy has been arrested, according to Sussex Police.

A police statement said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Lancing on Saturday evening (16 July) between a silver Seat and a 16-year-old boy.

Emergency services were called to the A27 near the junction with Halewick Lane at around 8.30pm.

“The boy, who is from Sompting, was airlifted to Southampton Hospital with serious injuries.

“The driver of the Seat, a 21-year-old woman from Lancing was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and released on bail until 27 August.

“Witnesses can email [email protected] or call 101 quoting Operation Showman.”
