UPDATE: Evacuation in Durrington due to chemical reaction

People were evacuated from Centenary House in Durrington Lane, Durrington at 1.45pm today (Monday, December 14) after cleaning materials reacted with a hob in the kitchen.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “It was an incident in the kitchen due to chemical materials reacting to a hob.

“All staff returned to the building within an hour.”

Fire and Rescue crews attended the scene with three pumps and two special appliances.

Five people were assessed by paramedics.
