Detectives investigating the murder of a 50-year-old man from Worthing remain at the scene where his body was discovered yesterday afternoon.
Police said the man’s body was spotted lying inside a house in Osmonde Close at 12.15pm and police officers had to break in to gain access.
Detective chief inspector Tanya Jones said: “Sadly, the man was already dead and our enquiries suggest that he probably died between Saturday afternoon and sometime on Sunday.
“Crime scene investigators continue to work at the house and the body has yet to be removed, but we believe that he died as a result of being stabbed. A knife has been recovered from the scene.
“We are satisfied that we know the identity of the victim, but we have not yet traced his next of kin, so he will not be formally identified at this time.
“We are currently seeking a man who we would like to speak to in connection with this incident, but we believe this to be contained to two people who knew each other and he is not regarded as a threat to other members of the public.”
Police said anyone with information about the incident or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area between Saturday afternoon and Monday lunchtime, especially anybody seen entering or leaving the property, is asked to email email@example.com or call 101 quoting Operation Waterhouse.
