UPDATE: Man arrested in connection with death of woman in Worthing

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman who died in Worthing this morning (Friday, August 23).

Officers and paramedics were called to an address in Orme Road at 11am, following a report that a woman was unconscious.

Resuscitation was attempted by paramedics, but the 30-year-old woman was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Police are continuing to treat the death as unexplained.

A 39-year old local man has been arrested, and is currently in police custody.

A police spokesperson said: “Although we have someone in custody, it is still very early into the investigation.

“We are trying to establish what happened overnight and this morning at the address and are following up all possible lines of enquiry.

“The cause of death is not known at this time and a post-mortem examination to ascertain how the victim died will be carried out in due course.

“We cannot speculate on what happened at this early stage, but will continue with our enquiries.”
