Residents spotted the helicopter hovering over Summerlea Community Primary School earlier this afternoon, with police vehicles parked nearby.

But according to police, the NPAS police helicopter was deployed to assist Sussex Police in the search of a suspicious vehicle in Wick.

The vehicle was suspected to contain persons connected to an assault outside of Sussex.

It was found abandoned on Mill Lane in Wick, where up to three occupants decamped at around 2.30pm.

One man has been taken into custody and is assisting police with enquiries.

Police said ‘the incident is ongoing and there are no further details at this stage’.

Summerlea Community Primary School have been approached for comment.
