UPDATE: Road re-opened after fatal Funtington crash

POLICE have re-opened a road in Funtington following a crash which left a 21-year-old woman dead and two others injured.

The incident took place just before 2.30pm today (Friday, August 14) on the B2146 between Funtington and East Ashling.

Police said a silver VW Polo saloon car crashed into a parked goods vehicle on the single-carriageway B road.

“The 21-year-old local woman who was driving the car was killed and the two passengers received injuries for which they have been taken to St Richard’s Hospital at Chichester and Southampton General Hospital respectively,” said Sussex Police.

The road was re-opened just before 7pm this evening.

Anyone who saw what happened was asked to contact Sussex Police via collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting Operation Sundridge.

This is the second fatality near Funtington in recent weeks following the death of Paolo Pinto, from Fishbourne.
