A WOMAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a car crash in Worthing.

A Ford Focus and Volkswagen crashed at the junction of Ivydore Avenue and Arundel Road at 7.02pm last night.

The passenger in the Volkswagen, a 27-year-old woman from Hampshire, was cut free from the car and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, with serious injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 34-year-old man, suffered no injuries. The driver of the Ford, a 38-year-old woman, was taken to Worthing Hospital with slight injuries.

Two fire engines and a heavy rescue tender from Worthing Fire Station attended the scene.

Firefighters left the scene at 7.44pm.
