The owner of a car that caught fire in Goring Road, Goring this morning, frantically pulled out his possessions before the car went up in flames.
Bob Dodds, of Kelso Close, Tarring, had parked outside Spar while he went to get a sandwich.
On his return the car was on fire.
He said: “I was desperate to get my Miracle sails out of the car because you cannot replace them- the manufacturer is no longer is business so it was very important for me to retrieve them.
“Now I will have to try and get hold of my insurance company so that the remains of the car can be towed.
“Firefighter Roy Barraclough happened to be passing so stopped to help by doing what he could.
“I dread to think what would have happened if I had been going along the motorway. I would have been in trouble because it went up in flames so quickly.”
