A sinkhole has opened up in a residential road in Worthing.
Police were called to Reigate Road a short while ago today (December 14), after a taxi driver reporter the hole to them.
Edward Ephgrave was taking a passenger to West Worthing railway station when he spotted the hole, which was more than three feet deep.
After dropping off the passenger, he returned to Reigate Road and parked his taxi to block it off to other road users.
He told the Herald: “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. It’s not what I expected to be doing this morning.
“They need to block the road off, because it’s going to get bigger.”
