THE Herald attended the election count at the Assembly Hall today (Friday, May 6) and filmed some of the proceedings.
Chief executive of Adur and Worthing councils, Ian Lowrie who is retiring at the end of May, talked about what the process involves and how he felt about leaving his role.
He said: “These are the last local government results I shall make as returning officer. It is a privilege to do this job and experience democracy in a true form. Thanks to all the staff involved in making the election process run so smoothly and to all the political parties too who have made this such a positive election. And finally thanks to all the support given to me.”
