THE sun shone for the start of today’s (Sunday, July 15) Race for Life along Worthing seafront.

The promenade was a sea of pink with almost 3,500 women taking part in the 5k event for Cancer Research UK.

Among them were three 12-year-old girls, Maia Wiltshire, Becky Lackner and Emma Richards, who were joined by Clare Watson and Eleanor Richards. They were running in memory of Becky’s mum Anne who died in August last year, aged 43, after suffering a brain tumour.

Eleanor, Emma’s mum, said: “We’re all doing it together – in memory of Anne. It’s Clare and me with our little girls, running with Anne’s little girl.”

To see a list of all the participant’s names, and lots of photographs taken at the event, see the Worthing Herald, on sale from Thursday, July 19.
